Tasting notes

A sweet smelling aroma with hints of coffee and chocolate. The flavour is a perfect balance of bitter and sweet with malt and roast characters. It’s smooth, creamy and balanced on the palate and characteristically dark, ruby coloured with a creamy head in the glass.

How they did it

Aisling Ryan, one of team’s lead ­brewers, said hundreds and hundreds of versions were tried until they finally landed on one they were happy with.
She said: ‘It’s been a long time in the making. We’ve been working on this for over four years, so it’s exciting to get to this stage and finally get it out the gates.’
They start by brewing the same Guinness that you already know and love, using the same natural ingredients. The brewers then carefully remove the alcohol through a specially designed cold-filtration system which doesn’t stress the liquid.
A final blend and balance of ingredients gives you the distinctive flavour profile and taste characteristics of Guinness.
During their testing phase, the taste was identified by a panel of independent consumers as ‘outstanding’. Just like Guinness, Guinness 0.0 is dark ruby red with a creamy head, with hints of chocolate and coffee, and is smoothly balanced with bitter, sweet, roasted notes.
